Metta Meditation is a Buddhist practice of love and kindness that helps us to open our hearts and cultivate love, kindness, compassion, understanding, and acceptance towards ourselves and others. In addition to helping us to choose love over fear and divisiveness, Metta mediation is Scientifically proven to create more vagal tone (activity of the vagal nerve a fundamental component of the parasympathetic nervous system branch on the autonomous nervous system) which increases the bodies immune resilience, reduces inflammation, regulates and slows the heart rate, improves our ability to respond to stress by reducing anxiety, chronic pain, and decreasing recovery time from activated states. Metta is a beautiful antidote to our current society that has us primarily in our sympathetic nervous system. Metta meditation helps us to reverse the programming that has trained us to protect our hearts, so that we can open the heart rather than close it. This 30 minute audio recording begins with a bit of an explanation and information about the heart and it's powerful electro magnetic field followed by the meditation itself. For this Metta mediation I use affirmations from the renowned Vietnamese monk, Thich Nhat Hanh.
